Books: 'Oxford: The Last Hurrah,' by Dafydd Jones

In the 1980s, British photographer Dafydd Jones went to work for publications such as Tatler and Vanity Fair documenting what he has termed “elites that nobody had seen before.” It was, he notes, “Thatcher’s Britain, a period of celebration for those that had money. People described it as the ‘last hurrah’ of the upper classes.” His images of student life at Oxford University from this period — rife with black ties and ballgowns — has now been collected in the book Oxford: The Last Hurrah.
