Books: Rescued Chickens at Home with Their People

By David Schonauer   Monday July 6, 2020

In 2017, photographer Janet Holmes was working as a volunteer at the Wild Bird Fund, a rehabilitation center for injured and orphaned birds in New York. There, Holmes met a network of people who’d transformed their homes into micro-sanctuaries where previously exploited chickens were given homes. The result of the photographer’s journey is the new book Nest: Rescued Chickens at Home (Kehrer Verlag), which is now being crowdfunded at Kicktarter. Feature Shoot tells Holmes’s story.
