Books: "Notre-Dame de Paris - Images of a Cathedral 1763-2019"

By David Schonauer   Friday May 22, 2020

In April 2019, Notre-Dame, the great Paris cathedral, caught fire and has since been closed. On the occasion of the anniversary of the blaze, Schirmer Mosel is publishing a picture history of the cathedral that is also a media history of Paris, notes L’Oeil de la Photographie. The book starts with paintings and etchings from the time shortly before the invention of photography and continues with photographs by William Henry Fox Talbot, Henri Le Secq, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Thomas Struth and more.

Read the whole story at L’Oeil de la Photographie.
