On View: The Glamour of 1950s Senegal

Through the 1950s, photographer Roger DaSilva (1925-2008) joyfully documented night clubs, upscale weddings and cultural events in the West African nation of Senegal. He left and extensive archive — an estimated 75,000 negatives were discovered in his home after his death in 2008 — and now some 100 of those images have been restored under the auspices of the Albers Foundation. Six were presented for the first time outside Senegal at this year’s Also Known as Africa (AKAA) design festival in Paris.
