Social News: Instagram Bans Ad Partner for Tracking User Locations and More

Instagram has banned one of its major advertising partners for tracking millions of users’ locations, saving public Instagram Stories, and scraping user data, reports Business Insider. The ad partner, Hyp3r, offers location-based marketing data to brands, allowing, for example, a hotel to target ads or interact with you on social media if you posted a photo from their rooftop bar, adds PetaPixel. Business Insider claims that about 90 percent of Hyp3r’s data came through Instagram.
