Trending: Photos of Text Messages Raise Ethics Questions

Is it okay for street photographers to take pictures of people’s private text messages? As PetaPixel notes, that is one of the questions raised by noted street photographer Jeff Mermelstein, who has been photographing people’s phones while they are texting and then posting the results on Instagram. Business Insider  asks essentially the same question, though it also declares that Mermelstein’s images offer “a compelling insight into human nature.” Fstoppers thinks perhaps it’s an invasion of privacy.
