Thirty-four years after his death, Garry Winogrand’s photographs of America continue to charm, befuddle and amaze viewers, notes The New York Times, which spotlights a new book, The Street Philosophy of Garry Winogrand, exploring the work. The book takes 100 photos and pairs each with an essay by writer Geoff Dyer. “[W]ith Winogrand you keep thinking, ‘Why did he photograph that?’” says Dyer in an interview.
