Exhibitions: The Lesser Known Gordon Parks

Gordon Parks is best known for the images of black life before and during the civil rights movement that he created for Life magazine. But his work also included lesser known fashion and event photography, as well as portraits of artist friends that were as slyly funny as they were intimate, notes Hyperallergic. That part of Parks’s life is the subject of a two-part exhibition at New York’s Jack Shainman Gallery  called “Gordon Parks: I Am You.” Part one showcases Parks as fashion and fine art photographer.
