Before 2017 gets really weird, we’ll take a break from serious documentaries and brilliant animation to extol the virtues of the short narrative film as seen in the hilarious Flushed, from writer director Grace June Cleere with shattering performances by Olivia Spencer and Emma Stirling. This film captures the complexity of modern social communications in a mere four minutes — it’s about private moments in public toilets and the importance of practicing safe texts. No corporal details are too sacred, or gross, to omit.
