Exhibitions: How Mary Ellen Mark Captured "Attitude"

The photography world is still taking stock of Mary Ellen Mark, who died last year at the age of 75. Her work is showcased in the new exhibition “Attitude: Portraits by Mary Ellen Mark, 1964–2015,” at the Howard Greenberg Gallery  in New York through June 18, which celebrates 40 years of her portraiture. Curated by Melissa Harris, the exhibition focuses the self-possession and confidence she captured in people living on the fringes of society, notes the New York Times’s James Estrin.
