On View: Jonno Rattman's Kid Cowboys

By David Schonauer   Tuesday December 15, 2015

When photographer Jonno Rattman was assigned by the New Yorker  to cover the Youth Bull Riders World Finals in Abilene, Texas — a rodeo for cowboys and cowgirls age 8 to 18 — what he found was an incongruous mix of sounds and sights. “the howling of cows and boys, the bleats of sheep” and men who “spat soupy tobacco to the dirt floor.” The work is now on view in an exhibition from Peter Hay Halpert Fine Art in conjunction with Philadelphia's Episcopal Academy.
