MAP is impressed with Sweet Cherry, a four-minute short from Montreal-based director Kevin Millet that seems to be part documentary and part music video. The film, notes Millet, is “about what happens” during the fruit-picking season in British Columbia. “Every year, people from all around the globe come for the harvest to make money but also discover and have new experiences. From precarious conditions to unexpected meetings, I’ve filmed portraits of people of different origins,” he writes. The music comes from the Australian band Movement. Millet mixes fiction and reality beautifully. Is this a new genre?
