Memoria. Marzo 2018. El Día Nacional de la Memoria por la Verdad y la Justicia es la denominación que se adoptó en el año 2001, con el que se designa en Argentina al 24 de marzo, la conmemoración del aniversario del golpe cívico-militar del año 1976, y donde se recuerda al Terrorismo de Estado, los crímenes de lesa humanidad cometidos por la dictadura y a los desaparición forzada de personas. Año tras año, la marcha del 24 de marzo está protagonizada por las agrupaciones políticas más diversas del país, reunidosn para conmemorar la llegada al poder de la dictadura más violenta de nuestra historia, el inicio del periodo más represivo y oscuro de Argentina. La consigna es gritar: “nunca más”. Sin embargo, un grupo de artistas se expresa de una manera muy diferente. A través del arte comprometido de una manera apartidaria sin ser apolíticos.

The Independence Wave

"The Independence Wave". September 2017. The drive for Catalan independence captured the world's attention from September to October 2017 when a banned referendum from the Spanish government met a heavy police crackdown. Following this, a unilateral declaration of independence was made and brought a historical and the biggest contemporary political and social crisis in the region. In this picture, around 80.000 people according to the organizers attend the campaign closing of the Catalan referendum.

18°54'41" N 98°26'3" W / Ojos Áureos (series). October 2017. El terremoto del 19 de septiembre de 2017 en México fue un hecho sin precedentes. Colapsaron muchas iglesias barrocas de los siglos XVI, XVII y XVIII, alrededor del volcán Popocatépetl. Sus cúpulas caidas, vistas desde el cielo, reflejan una suerte de fractales, perfección caótica; ojos áureos.

El rey de los gallinazos es uno de los buitres americanos más grandes. Nombre científico "Sarcoramphus papa". Cuando encuentra un animal muerto, desplaza a los buitres más pequeños. De allí viene su nombre de Rey. Habita desde el sur de México hasta el norte de Argentina. Su tamaño varía entre 67 y 81 cm de longitud, con una envergadura de entre 1,2 a 2 m y tiene un peso que oscila entre 2,7 a 4,5kg.

Project: A week spent with Benemérito Cuerpo de Bomberos, a local volunteer firefighting outfit in the small cigar-producing city of Estelí, Nicaragua.

Morganna is a Mexican transsexual opera singer, born in a conservative family in San Miguel de Allende. She traveled to Bangkok to participate at the “Miss International Queen” Contest. Although she never won, a famous surgeon was so impressed by her that he offered her the surgery for free.

The project portrays the last year of Hugo’s life, the relationship with his wife, Wilma, and his battle against aging and memory loss.

Access to safe water and sanitation is a basic human right that around 1500 homeless migrants in northern France are being denied. Illustrating access to water for transit populations in the north of France, “Point d’eau” - French for water point or no water - denounces the French government’s restriction policies. The project highlights the solidarity and hospitality of citizens in response to the government’s negligence. The deprivation of water is used to discourage migrants who, passing through France, wish to reach the United Kingdom.

Entre Nubes. January 2017. San Germán is a slum on the outskirts of Bogotá, Colombia where vulnerable populations including victims of the armed conflict, ex-guerilla members, natives and afros displaced from all over the country coexist. In this neighborhood, land is constantly disputed, the police don't arrive, and violence is first choice in conflict resolution, where the law often favors the interests of those who yield more power, including construction companies and drug lords. Nevertheless, people here are resilient and stand tall.

ALMA is a monograph with 50 black and white diptychs where I try to convey a dialogue between light and darkness to represent the lack of family information and so to create another story. This body of work is a recreation of the forgotten or silenced biographies of my grandparents and their parents whose stories took place in Palestinian territories, in Arabic language and under the Orthodox Catholic Church, and developed between wars, forced displacements and migrations. Therefore each diptych represents a dialectic which connects two different time and spaces with the objetive to recreate and validate the duality of my identity not as a representation of one territory, one language, one religion or one political ideology but as a human being, the sum of intercultural constellations.

PARADING FOR FAITH, HONOR, AND DEVOTION. February 2017. This marching band in the Bolivian Carnaval de Oruro parade for miles. They dedicate their journey through the street to the Virgin of Socavon. One particular year a bridge collapse killed some bandmembers, but they marched on in honor of the fallen bandmates.
