Maya Healers: A Thousand Dreams. Berta Navichoc, healing Pedro Mendoza in Santiago Atitlán. 02/2015. My photographs explore the power and mystery of ancient indigenous healing practices among the Maya people of Guatemala. Healers and bonesetters are believed to have connections with the supernatural. These healing rituals are part of the resurgence of Maya identity despite the genocide.
