Logging Pride Endures in the Willapa Hills
The Willapa Hills of southwest Washington were once home to some of the Pacific Northwest's densest stands of old-growth. And in the midst of these sprouted logging communities whose cultures and economies were dedicated almost entirely to cutting them down.
Today, almost all of that old-growth is gone. The logging heyday is over too. But the fecundity of the land remains, as does the sense of pride and heritage that has come to define the most dangerous occupation in America. These pictures are an illustration of both.
