Everything is heard in silence
There is a sound we have forgotten. A sound without direction, without surface, without outside or inside. We lived in it before air, before words. Water was our first home, and there we learned to listen to the world as one listens to one's own body. At some point in evolution, we were batrachians—amphibious beings, half breath, half silence.
