The next league of their own: Hundreds of women's baseball players try out for the pros
More than 600 athletes from 10 countries, traveling from as far as Australia, Japan, and South Korea, gathered in Washington, DC, to try out for the newly formed Women’s Professional Baseball League in August 2025. Set to launch in May 2026, it will be the first professional women’s baseball league in the United States since the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League ended in 1954.
