How West Virginia Is Pulling Pollution, and Rare Earths, Out of Its Streams
A trailer filled with several layers of baffles holds a load of rare earth elements, or REE, that hasn't been dewatered yet at the Richard Mine Acid Mine Drainage Treatment Centre run by the West Virginia Water Research Institute and the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection. The REE are collected from the treatment of acid mine drainage.
