American Sketches
American Sketches is an observational journey across a nation that defies classification despite our need to classify everyone in it. It is an antidote to the hysteria driving most media coverage and warping our sense of who we actually are. The goal of this project is to reflect the diversity and ambiguities of individuals in America against the backdrop of pressing issues such as immigration, LGBTQ rights, and racial discrimination. This will be accomplished by focusing on three distinct places: Eagle Pass, Texas, the Mississippi Delta, and Orlando, Florida. Each of these places is a microcosm of the issues this project explores through individual portraits, events and the daily life of people.
