A street portrait series celebrating 100 years since Ireland’s first radio broadcast at 7:45pm on 1 January 1926, when 2RN went on air, paving the way for RTÉ. Each person holds a vintage radio and shares what radio means to them—young and diverse voices proving radio still belongs to the present. Pictured here ia Mustafe Hassan Ahmed. “As a blind person, radio is a very big medium in my life. I listen to the radio to get the time. RTÉ Radio 1 is very interesting. I like the culture of programs, I find it is very inclusive. I like all the different topics, I listen to the news and sports. I come from Somalia I have been living in Ireland for three years. I listen to RTÉ 1 as I want to learn English properly, it is very helpful.”

When they cover Palestine and I see negative comments about them doing this and not covering Irish news, it makes me sad as I think they are very balanced.”
