ICE out of LA
Los Angeles is a city built by immigrants, with over 33% of the city's population having migrated here from a foreign country. In early June 2025, Los Angeles became ground zero for President Donald Trump's immigration crackdown, with videos of masked agents storming Home Depot parking lots spreading rapidly online through social media. Those against the president's actions quickly responded with a simple demand, “ICE out of LA.” Protests became more intense as the days passed, taking over the 101 freeway, setting fire to vehicles and continuing to clash day and night with Federal and local law enforcement, resulting in the deployment of the California National Guard and United States Marines to protect federal agents and property. After the protests in Los Angeles slowed down, a massive Immigration raid took place not far from the city in Camarillo, CA, at Glasshouse Farms, where Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents alongside U.S. Customs and Border Protection detained 319 immigrants in one fell swoop. Friends and family of those inside begged for their loved ones to be released, while a rapid response protest grew in size; their requests were met with tear gas and arrests, and the raid resulted in the death of Jamie Alanis Garcia, an immigrant and employee of the farm, who fell 30 feet from the roof where he was hiding from Federal Immigration agents.
