American Photography 42 Winners

Long term project on local newsrooms published in The New Yorker. For the past six years I’ve attempted to uncover the largely unseen crisis in local journalism by documenting the dedicated but dwindling newspaper landscape from Alaska to Florida. Through in-depth interviews along with digital and analogue visual documentation, my Local Newsrooms project aims to shed a light on the loss of local newspapers and their impact on communities. The project also serves as a historical document of institutions over a century old and a vital democratic industry undergoing dramatic shifts with implications for all of us.
