Nicholas: While working on a personal project in 2024, I spent time sailing through Greenland's Eastern fjord system, Scoresbysund, photographing icebergs and glaciers. Upon my return, Flaunt reached out regarding a shoot for their upcoming issue, concerning the theme of Transience.
This topic had been heavy on my mind while amongst the changing environment in Scoresby. I reflected on how this remote and often disregarded part of the world — once thought of as inhospitable and of limited value — has now become a stark symbol of transience: be it geoligical, and now even, geopolitical. For the story, I photographed sculptural ice forms as they melted, to capture the idea - highlighting how these misunderstood elements are now crucial in understanding our shifting world.
Flaunt Magazine: ”Issue theme: Where Are We Going? embraces the notion of symbolic transience into fall and winter months, while embracing travel and futuristic ideas. Throughout the issue are spotlights of the next generation’s creative youth—those who may well be leading us to wherever the issue is going.
