Self Portrait, Syracuse, NY. The Slit. December 2022, Explores memory, grief, and the archive. A tragic accident fifty years ago resulted in the death of four members of the artist's father's family, a wound that rippled across generations. She engages archives to retell that story while connecting with her ancestors through self portraits and archival interventions that critique performative gender norms. Warren re-contextualizes the archive as a site of queer fantasy and futurity. She queers the archive and mythologizes family histories to create moments of transformation, healing, and connection.
