"Capturing Jeong" in New York Magazine's The Cut
New York Magazine's The Cut featured Janice Chung's series "Where Are You?" where she uncovers a vulnerable search for identity and a sense of belonging within the intimate spaces of family and the familiar. Documented over the course of four years, the photographs taken in her hometown Queens weave together the
places of Chung’s childhood, from her grandmother’s house “Kunjip” to her eldest aunt’s apartment to her parent’s home. Following her closest subjects, her family, she invites viewers into a time capsule of her past intertwined with han and jeong, the indescribable wells of emotions surrounding loss and connection found within the Korean experience.
