Don't Let Bad Guys Buy Guns: Kids Voices for Gun Control. June 2022. In the days after the Uvalde school shooting, I kept hearing the same rhetoric from the two deeply entrenched, opposing sides of the ongoing gun debate in the United States. Why is it even a debate? I was struggling to make sense of it when I realized there was a huge void in the discussion -- our kids' voices. They haven't had a voice in this yet they are the ones being murdered at school. I wondered what they had to say about it … so I asked. This image is part of an ongoing personal project about kids' answers. This is what my son said. Just like we mark anniversaries of every school shooting, 2022 will be the year of Uvalde — our kids were safe enough to be back in school during the pandemic, but they are still not safe from guns.
