Band in the Rubble
Band in the Rubble. April 2022. On the evening of December 11th an EF-4 tornado struck the small town of Dawson Springs, Kentucky. The violent tornado took a decades-old photograph of the high school band and deposited it dozens of miles away in Indiana. This oddity inspired The Daily Yonder to take a deeper look into the relationship the town has with the band and the tornado recovery. At a high school too small to field a football team, over a third of the student body participate in the marching band. Pictured here are a selection of upperclassmen.
