Portrait of Ellis "El-Dog" Ferrell, Saabir Rivers, Nahye Hyman aka "Little E," Corey Brown, Darrin Ferrell and Sameir Bowens-Anderson. Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club - Philadelphia. September 2021. Ellis 'El-Dog' Ferrel, age 82, always dreamed of owning a horse. Now he owns 12 and, with his son Darrin, 56, leads a riding club of urban cowboys in the heart of Philadelphia. Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club is dedicated to keeping the legacy of urban cowboys alive. El-Dog hopes to leave his legacy of Black urban horsemanship for future generations and preserve this tradition that has been around for centuries. The riding club helps children in the community face their fears around horses, but more than just learning to ride, the organization aims to be a positive force in the community.
