Feb 5, 2021 11:27 am. Marbella del Caribe is a series of photographs made from a rented apartment in Puerto Rico during the COVID-19 pandemic. The pool area was restricted and required a reservation which allowed bathers to stay for one hour. Adults sunbathing, kids playing, selfies, kissing, and dancing; it all happened around the wall dividing the shallow from the deep end.
After months of photographing and watching people's behavior and social habits in this public space, I noticed specific patterns. Postures and gestures were replicated among my subjects, despite the community's diversity.
Sometimes the scene was so familiar that I started to predict what would happen next. However, the surprise factor was more frequent and very exciting. Every circumstance was an opportunity to capture an instant in the hour of relaxation of my temporary neighbors.
