Mama's Couture
Mama's Couture. July 2021. Clothing brand Pyer Moss never shies away from doing things #ForTheCulture, so I was pumped to attend my first show. Their breathtaking first couture collection was Black culture on display through handcrafted fashion. Look 24 from the show "Wat U Iz" was inspired by the first electrically heated hair roller, invented by Solomon Harper. The entire collection was inspired by the inventions of Black inventors and brought those inventions to life through intricate, innovative, handcrafted garments. Set at the Villa Lewaro, the estate of Madam CJ Walker, the entire show experience was an immersion in beautiful Black history and innovation.
