This specimen was photographed while on assignment for National Geographic Magazine at INPA in Manaus Brazil before the coronavirus lockdown. The species is the R. rupicola. From Dr. Mario Cohn-Haft, the specimen was carefully prepared with the head turned to the side and back feathers spread, which highlight and facilitate the study of special features used by the male "Cock-of-the-rock" in his elaborate courtship displays.
