Liz Liguori, Cherry Grove, New York. Women of The Grove: A Lesbian Portrait. August 2021. These portraits were photographed in Cherry Grove, Fire Island, New York summer of 2020 and 2021. This is the beginning of a personal project to highlight the legacy of the lesbian community of Cherry Grove, which the anthropologist Esther Newton called, “America's first gay and lesbian town.”
