Lover in Quarantine. June 2020. In the town Pigeon Forge, commonly and comically referred to as “The Redneck Vegas” of Tennessee, my partner and I self isolate together before visiting my family in a nearby town just past Dollywood. While tucked away in a motel laughably situated between two open go-cart racetracks, my partner soaks within the questionable indoor hot tub inside our carpeted 80’s inspired room. His evening ritual of running Lysol through the jet system to clean it before slowly descending into the bubbles is, without fail, accompanied by Katy Perry’s “Firework” blasted from the go-cart loudspeakers next door.
