Memory
Memory. February 2020. One of 12 Deaf young tailors who make and sell reusable sanitary pads at a tailoring workshop in Green Malata Entrepreneurial Training Village, an hours drive outside of Blantyre, Malawi.
By working together, the women keep each other safe and can earn an income. Because Memory and her colleagues had little access to specialised education for the Deaf, they find it difficult to communicate with each other, let alone with the outside world. Their signing is an amalgamation of different languages - some taught, some personal inventions.
