Juneteenth Horse Ride. June 2020. To honor so many Black lives lost to police brutality and to honor their legacy, Black cowboys in the Bay Area, rode peacefully around Lake Merritt in Oakland, California. June 19th, 2020.
Juneteenth, known as Liberation Day and Freedom Day is celebrated on June 19th. Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States dating back to June 19th, 1865.
