A Pastor, a School Bus and a Trip Through a Scorched Oregon Town
A Pastor, a School Bus and a Trip Through a Scorched Oregon Town. September 2020. Cherie Grubbs, 64, walks through Mountain View Estates with bottles of water on Sept. 12, 2020, as she and her partner look through the rubble of their trailers that were destroyed by the Almeda Fire. The Almeda Fire swept through Southern Oregon towns, from the outskirts of Ashland into Phoenix and Talent on Sept. 8, 2020, destroying about 2,500 homes. Her partner and neighbor Daniel Verner was searching for ashes of his late wife, while Grubbs was looking for mementos of her son, who was murdered in 2011.
