Twenty-seven-year-old Xiaoting Chen works as a history teacher in one of the primary schools in rural Huazhou county in China's Guangdong province. Chen lost one of her eyes to a tumor when she was a child, but has kept her spirit up. She now dedicates herself to teaching students who are left behind by their parents. In China, an estimated 61 million children are left behind by their migrant parents who work in cities. The absence of parents and challenges of rural life often leave these children particularly vulnerable. Chen's story went viral in China's social media "Weibo" and received over 150 million viewings.
