In Awe of Misty. May 2017. Blackbirds is a documentary project based on the Dance Theatre of Harlem. For years, African Americans were barred from ballet. It's been over 40 years and the Dance Theatre of Harlem remains committed to ushering in a new generation of black and brown ballet dancers.
