An Island in the Bahamas Where Pigs Swim Free
My daughter, Amelia, and the swimming pigs after tourists left, Major Cay Island, Bahamas, An Island in the Bahamas Where Pigs Swim Free, Voyager Assignment, March 2016.
Amelia, pigs and a chicken in front of the island’s thick foliage. When the tourists were away, I felt as if I were in another time period. I felt like a time traveler, an explorer in the past. It was very serene. Wild goats could be seen at dusk. When I photographed Amelia, I imaged her as Tarzan, alone on a deserted island, as an equal with the native pig inhabitants.
My dream vacation location. I asked if I might bring my daughter, having photographed Amelia w/ animals for a long term project. Surprisingly the island's pigs were the normal subjects & the international tourists were the exotics in appearance and behavior.
