The Afghans. March 2016. Dawar Khan, age 17 and an IDP from from Sangin District, Helmand Province, Afghanistan. His home was hit by a mortar that killed two of his brothers. As the war in Afghanistan winds into its sixteenth year, life for Afghans has become more adverse than ever. Civilians are wounded daily, poverty is endemic, Afghans flee the country in search of a better life and more than 1.2 million people have been displaced by conflict.
