Avanto = Hole in the Ice. April 2015. I was visiting my hometown in Tampere, Finland last winter and decided to venture out to the lakeside. In most places, when you went to a lake in in the winter time, you wouldn’t expect to find people swimming. But when I arrived at the lake, I found it teeming with swimmers, though it was -11 F!
