Jacob, Philadelphia, PA, 2014. My nude portraits represent emotional states of being that feel familiar to everyone, but expressed in the distinctness of an individual in a specific time and place. I strive to create a balance between the unseen and the exposed, knocking down the cultural stigma of nakedness as a humiliating state. I seek to reveal the subtle beauty, both physical and psychological, that is often overlooked in the human figure and I urge viewers to think about how we reveal ourselves and the vulnerability of being naked.
