“Boy in winter uniform 1” illustrates the standard-issue wardrobe and paraphernalia, as well as one of the many landscapes, of the ongoing world design for Todd Baxter’s latest multi-series project, Project Astoria.
Project Astoria: Test 01, an 11-image photo series that includes "Boy in winter uniform 1," is an introduction to the people, animals, and objects of the Astoria System, the retro-futuristic backdrop for the project's multi-media exploration of dystopia and coming-of-age.
Baxter’s creative process involves photographing multiple elements for a planned image and then painstakingly weaving those elements together in post-production for real-yet-surreal effect.
