A Good Death
John Hawkins, Village Care, Manhattan, NY. A Good Death. The same day as the Connecticut school massacre John's health took a deteriorating step, but he was still fortunate and cared for in so many ways. Sun streams in through the window as Home Health Aid Marilyn Ali watches at John's bedside, Friday December 14th 2012.
John was photographed for the one and a half years leading up to his death from lung disease and witnessed him fade and die with warmth and mindfulness thanks to friend and Zen Buddhist Chaplain Chodo Campbell.
