The essay showed how 30 years of 10% GDP annual growth had crafted a new face of China cities. We see faces of construction, consumerism, and capitalism, and anything but communism. The new face is best described as "New Wine, Old Label" or "Capitalism in Communists' Clothings"

Catholics from a farming community in Haixing village in Heilongjiang, China, offer prayers in a house. The Catholic Church in China has grown to 6 million people since the end of the Cultural Revolution, but the growth has been much slower than the Protestants. The late Bishop Aloysius attributed this to Catholics in China not being as enthusiastic about telling people about their faith.
