LAKEHEAD Project
The LAKEHEAD project focuses on the physical and conceptual origin of the Great Lakes, which are the most expansive body of fresh water on earth, with over 35,000 islands and 10,000 miles of shoreline. Essentially a river, they begin in Minnesota and travel 2,300 miles toward the Atlantic. The Lakehead is the farthest-inland freshwater seaport, connecting the center of North America, at Duluth, with the rest of the planet.
