Hundreds of car dealerships have closed their doors due to the economy and lack of interest in American-made automobiles. These buildings once represented the final step in an American success story of engineering, assembly line production and salesmanship. These same structures, parking lots and empty offices now are representative of an economic uncertainty as well as a loss of faith in the very values once most closely associated with American industry.
