Herero cadet , part of the personal project of the Hereros tribe of Namibia, August 2011. When Kaiser Wllhelm's Germany colonized the oldest desert on earth at the turn of the last century war broke out resulting in devastating losses for the Herero people. If a Herero warrior killed a German soldier, he would take and wear the uniform to signify his prowess. Over time, this became a tradition and the wearing of 'German' uniforms is practiced today at funerals and ceremonies to honor their ancestors.
