The Cloud’ Isn’t in the Sky
An illustration for a feature about the ecological footprint of growing AI use. There are several alarming aspects: the amount of water used to cool servers, the land use that the data centers take up, the electricity use that running AI takes and waste created by devices. I was inspired by WPA murals and classic paperback sci-fi covers.
