A Boy’s Search for Queer Voices in Cookbooks
This illustration was commissioned to accompany an excerpt from John Birsdall's book, "What Is Queer Food? How We Served a Revolution," published on saveur.com. The essay, titled "The Unshown Bed," explores the writer's adolescent introduction to food writing, via a "New York Times" recipe for brioche, the ways in which queer experiences were consistently sidelined in major food publications.
